Intellectual Property Use Policy

Use of content found on the EQAO Website must be in accordance with this Intellectual Property (IP) Use Policy. This IP Use Policy forms part of the website Terms of Use.

If you want to use any content that you find on the Website, you must have a license. This includes text, images, videos and graphics, including trademarks and official marks, and data assets on EQAO’s Open Data webpage. A license is a set of rules that describes how you can use that content. It:

  • Grants you rights to use content;
  • Outlines your rights;
  • Tells you what rules you need to follow.

Different rules and licences apply to different types of content and different types of uses. This includes whether Your intended use is commercial (e.g., for a business or to generate revenue) or non-commercial (e.g., for yourself or not for the purpose of generating revenue).

There are also different rules and licences for content generally, for trademarks and official marks, and for data assets.

    6. Trademarks, official marks, names, crests, logos and symbols, including those of any third party;

Data Assets

The meaning of “data asset” in this IP Use Policy is the same as in the Governance and Management of Information and Data Assets Directive, 2021. EQAO data assets are made available on the Open Data webpage of the EQAO website. Such data assets may also be available through the Ontario Data Catalogue.

You have permission to use any of the data assets published on the EQAO Open Data webpage in accordance with the terms of the Open Government Licence – Ontario. For clarity, for the purposes of this licence, the meaning of “Information Provider” in the Open Government Licence – Ontario includes the EQAO.

EQAO data assets must be cited as follows:
