EQAO Student Engagement Committee, 2026–2027

Call for Applications!

We are excited to announce the call for applications for the 2026–2027 EQAO Student Engagement Committee. This committee continues to be one of our key sources of student voice. It’s also an opportunity for interested students to have a positive impact on the agency’s activities and on Ontario’s education system.

Students are the focus of EQAO’s work, and we value learners’ perspectives on everything we do. Diverse student voices and experiences help EQAO to advance our goal of continuous improvement.

We invite all interested individuals to apply and encourage applications from people with disabilities; Indigenous, Black and racialized individuals; people from a diversity of ethnic and cultural origins and religions; and individuals of all sexual orientations, gender identities and expressions. As an accessible agency, we offer accommodation as required, including during the recruitment process. 

Who Is Eligible to Apply? 

Applicants must be enrolled in Grades 7–12 in an Ontario school during the 2026–2027 school year.

Application Form

Submissions must be received by June 15, 2026, and selections will be announced by the end of June 2026.

We appreciate any support you can provide in sharing this opportunity with students. 
Accommodations are available for students taking part in the application process.

    Jason, Grade 11

    I am excited to be part of this committee because it provides students with an opportunity to contribute to decisions that directly affect their education. Beyond sharing my own perspective, I hope to contribute fresh ideas around communication, such as making information about EQAO clearer and more accessible for students. I am also looking forward to collaborating with other members on strategies that could help reduce test-related stress and improve how students prepare for and understand assessments. I believe that student voice is essential to continuous improvement, and I am eager to help ensure that voice is heard in meaningful ways.

    I am excited to be part of the EQAO Student Engagement Committee because I will be able to represent students at my school and take their ideas forward.     I am excited to return to the EQAO Student Engagement Committee for my second year and continue building on the work we started.     I am truly eager and thrilled to be a contributing member of the EQAO 2026–2027 committee. Collaborating with peers that not only come from across Ontario but also with roots reaching globally the diverse perspectives of members can overall enhance the EQAO assessments’ effectiveness. This commitment can shape the EQAO assessment experience for the better, and I’m proud to be a contributor to this difference.

    I am excited to continue serving on the EQAO Student Engagement Committee and to contribute to conversations that help shape a more positive assessment experience for students across Ontario. I am committed to supporting initiatives that make EQAO assessments more inclusive, accessible and meaningful, and I am grateful for the opportunity to continue making a positive impact.

    I am excited to be part of the EQAO Student Engagement Committee because it gives me the opportunity to share my perspective and represent student voices across Ontario.     I am overjoyed to be part of the 2026–2027 EQAO Student Engagement Committee. I believe that I can make a positive impact by sharing ideas and helping other students.     I am excited to be part of the EQAO Student Engagement Committee and to make my voice heard. I believe that a healthy and functional school environment is built through collaboration between school administrators and students.     I am excited to be part of the committee because it makes me happy to know that I am helping students like me. Also, I would like to share my opinion, so we can continue to create such great assessments. Plus, I find it interesting that students have really thought deeply about these assessments and are working to improve them using their own knowledge and personal experiences.

    I’m proud to be part of this committee. As a former Grade 6 student, I understand the needs of elementary-school students. I look forward to sharing my classmates’ needs and ideas with the other members. Together, we can continue to improve the education system and make it a rewarding experience for everyone.

    I am excited to join the EQAO Student Committee because I want to contribute my ideas. A goal of mine while serving on the committee is to help simplify the EQAO process, and I look forward to working with the other students in the committee as we work through our ideas.

    I am excited to be a part of the committee because I want to help improve education for all students. I hope to share my ideas and experience, particularly as a member of the Deaf community, while learning from others.     Sophia, Grade 11

    I am looking forward to being a part of the committee because I want to make a positive impact on education in Ontario. Getting involved in my education and helping others is very important to me, and I hope to do that on the EQAO Student Engagement Committee. Having student voices heard and included in conversations surrounding us is imperative, and I hope to improve EQAO for future students.

    Julianna, Grade 12

    I want to help make the schools and the school system more open to diversity within each class and help create a safe environment for all students. My goal in serving on this committee is to encourage students, see all perspectives (of students and the school body) and create new ideas that I think will help students. I want to create things that are long term and beneficial to all.

    While being a part of the EQAO Student Engagement Committee, I hope to bring unique perspectives to the group. I am very excited to work collaboratively with students from outside my region. My hope is that while on this committee, I make a difference for at least one person. I look forward to the opportunity to be a voice for students of northwestern Ontario as well as the province as a whole.

    I’m excited to be part of the EQAO Student Engagement Committee because I want to make a positive change for students across Ontario.     I am eager and excited to be a part of the EQAO student committee for 2026–2027 to learn and help our community and peers. This is also a chance for me to expand my knowledge in many ways, and to also have a voice in our society.

    Being a part of this committee is a unique opportunity to make a positive contribution to the future of education in Ontario. I am extremely excited to join the EQAO committee to actively represent the voices of my peers. I hope to bring a youthful, constructive and dynamic perspective to our assessment methods. My goal is to help build a school system where every student feels heard, supported and equipped to succeed.

    I am delighted to be a part of EQAO’s student engagement committee. As someone who values youth voice and advocacy, I am honoured to contribute and hope to make an impact by reflecting student needs through our passion and shared goals. My mission is to empower inclusivity through our vision and work together to curate a diverse space in the EQAO education system, and take part in helping build a positive education system we are confident and proud in.

    Artem, Grade 7

    I am excited to be part of the committee because I arrived in Canada from Ukraine in the summer of 2022 and started school in September to join Grade 3. In the spring of 2023, at the end of Grade 3, I successfully passed my first EQAO tests, even though everything was new to me. The Canadian school system has been incredibly supportive and has helped me grow so much over the years, achieving good academic and athletic success. Now, after finishing Grade 6 and passing another round of EQAO tests in May, I want to give back, show things from a student’s point of view and help our school system improve and make learning more engaging, effective and fun for all students in Ontario.

    I am excited to be part of the EQAO Student Engagement Committee for my final year of high school! I look forward to sharing my perspectives, learning from diverse students across Ontario, and positively contributing ideas to help improve EQAO assessments and the overall student experience. I am thrilled to be part of an initiative that supports the future of education and to connect with both new and familiar like-minded individuals throughout this experience!

    I am so excited to be part of the EQAO Student Engagement Committee because it gives me such a special chance to speak up for my classmates and share what we are all really thinking.     I am thrilled to be selected to join the EQAO Student Engagement Committee. I strongly believe that every student’s voice has the potential to impact education for the better. From volunteering at school to working at summer camps, I have learned the importance of listening, understanding different perspectives and helping others succeed.     Vivian, Grade 10

    I am excited to be part of the EQAO Student Engagement Committee because I look forward to collaborating and exchanging ideas with fellow committee members throughout our term. Because the EQAO assessments are a major part of the educational experience of most students across Ontario, I find it important that the thoughts and voices of students are taken into account, which is what makes the committee such a significant opportunity for me. I’m excited to hear and discussa variety of EQAO-related experiences and perspectives. And most importantly, I’m excited to make an impact.
