In 2015, EQAO undertook a process to develop a new strategic plan to guide its activities over the next three years. Consultations were held with all stakeholder groups across the province. EQAO’s new strategic plan is anchored to the mandate of the Agency, as defined by the
EQAO Act, and the Ministry of Education’s renewed vision for education in Ontario.
As per the
EQAO Act, the agency has the following objects:
The four main areas EQAO will focus on from 2016-2019 are:
EQAO will assess and evaluate important aspects of the quality and effectiveness of elementary and secondary school education.
EQAO will conduct research into the factors affecting student achievement, well-being and the quality of education.
EQAO will help Ontarians better understand the role of the Agency and the appropriate uses of the information it provides so they can, in turn, help improve the outcomes of students in the publicly-funded education system.
EQAO will operate a responsible and effective organization.
