EQAO Welcomes Dr. Cameron Montgomery, Chair of Its Board of Directors

Dr. Montgomery will be the agency’s first full-time chair

TORONTO, February 14, 2019—The Government of Ontario has appointed Dr. Cameron Montgomery as the chair of the board of directors of the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO).

EQAO is an independent government agency that generates information to support student learning in Ontario. The agency’s assessment data, research and resources inform discussions among parents, guardians, educators and policy-makers in relation to students’ education.

This appointment comes at an important juncture, as the agency is in the process of modernizing to better meet the needs of students, parents and guardians, educators and the rest of the province of Ontario. The agency welcomes feedback on its modernization and listened closely as perspectives were shared through the government’s consultation on education reform in the fall.

Dr. Montgomery has first-hand experience with Ontario’s French- and English-language school systems. He believes strongly in the importance of assessment and will provide a valuable perspective as chair of EQAO’s board of directors. As the agency’s first full-time chair, Dr. Montgomery will provide strategic direction to the agency.
