EQAO is currently focused on a multi-year modernization initiative to ensure that the agency continues to meet the needs of Ontarians. EQAO’s modernization focuses on five distinct areas:
The agency’s modernization initiative is guided by the principles of benefit, quality, partnership and transparency.
In August 2018, the Government of Ontario announced a province-wide consultation on education. As part of its consultation, the government is asking, “What measures can be taken to improve provincial standardized testing?”
EQAO’s submission seeks to support the government’s consultation by outlining a proposal for what modernized large-scale assessments could look like—and how they could better support students, parents, guardians, educators and the rest of Ontario.
As EQAO works toward the modernization of its large-scale assessments, it recognizes the need for thinking that engages expertise both internal and external to the agency. For this reason, EQAO has initiated the Modernization in Measurement Advisory Panel (MMAP).
The agency recognizes the importance of student, parent and educator input, and remains committed to promoting an effective dialogue with Ontarians.
