EQAO is currently focused on a multi-year modernization initiative to ensure that the agency continues to meet the needs of Ontarians. EQAO’s modernization focuses on five distinct areas:
The agency’s modernization initiative is guided by the principles of benefit, quality, partnership and transparency.
In September 2017, the Government of Ontario asked that the Premier’s education advisors, led by Carol Campbell, undertake an Independent Review of Assessment and Reporting, which includes EQAO.
In support of the review process, EQAO has produced an information paper,
Modernizing EQAO to Better Support Student Learning. The goal of this document is to inform discussions about the agency’s mandate, large-scale assessments and the use of EQAO data in fostering continuous improvement in Ontario’s education system.
The agency recognizes the importance of student, parent and educator input, and remains committed to promoting an effective dialogue with Ontarians. Once the Government of Ontario completes its review and provides guidance on EQAO’s direction, EQAO will maintain an open dialogue to ensure that, through the implementation of the Government’s vision, it effectively meets the needs of the education community and the province.
