EQAO presented these school communities with the Dr. Bette M. Stephenson Recognition of Achievement. They are representative of the many school communities across the province that have made effective use of EQAO data and evidence from other sources to enhance and support student achievement.
These schools are at various stages in their journey of learning and continuous improvement. All are notable for their demonstration of leadership, proactive initiatives and sincere effort to help every child succeed. These are schools that have adopted an action plan based on their unique circumstances and are working toward improved student outcomes.
This recognition program was established to recognize the work of schools and to pay tribute to Dr. Stephenson's lifelong commitment and contribution to education and public service. As minister of both Education and Colleges and Universities from 1978 to 1985, and as an original member of EQAO's Board of Directors, Dr. Stephenson has made an enormous contribution to public education in the province.
