- Assessments of Reading, Writing and
Mathematics, Primary Division (Grades 1–3)
and Junior Division (Grades 4–6)The primary-division assessment tests the reading, writing and mathematics skills students are expected to have learned by the end of Grade 3. The junior-division assessment tests the reading, writing and mathematics skills students are expected to have learned by the end of Grade 6. Both assessments are based on The Ontario Curriculum.
- Grade 9 Assessment of Mathematics
All students working toward a credit in Grade 9 Academic or Applied Mathematics are required to participate. These tests evaluate how well students are meeting the curriculum expectations of the Grade 9 Academic or Applied Mathematics courses from The Ontario Curriculum.
- Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test
In Grade 10, students take the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test, which measures whether or not they are meeting the minimum standard for literacy across all subjects up to the end of Grade 9.
Successful completion of the literacy test is one of the 32 requirements students must meet to earn an Ontario Secondary School Diploma. The secondary school literacy requirement is described in the Ministry of Education’s Ontario Schools, Kindergarten to Grade 12: Policy and Program Requirements, 2011.
Every student who writes the Grade 3 or Grade 6 Assessment of Reading, Writing and Mathematics, the Grade 9 Assessment of Mathematics or the OSSLT receives an Individual Student Report. EQAO also releases provincial, school board and school results.
