Data Portal for Researchers

EQAO has created a data portal through which researchers can access selected EQAO data files. Access is limited to files containing information from which names, Ontario Education Numbers and other personal identifiers have been removed.

The key objectives for the data portal are

  • to encourage research that maximizes the potential for transforming EQAO data into useful information with which to leverage action and influence learning and
  • to reduce the time required for EQAO to produce requested data files for researchers.

Application Form for Access to EQAO Data Portal for Researchers | pdf | Posted 04.16.14

Researchers can gain access to specific data files based on the data definitions provided by downloading and completing an application form. Once the application is approved by EQAO, the researcher will receive user identification (“userid”) and a password that can be used to access the data files specified in the application.

Researchers requiring data not contained in the files provided may wish to request these data through EQAO’s Freedom of Information (FOI) request process. Please note that there is a charge for this service. Once your FOI data request has been received and analyzed and it has been established by an EQAO director the data requested is not infringing student, teacher or principal privacy or confidentiality, you will receive a cost estimate from EQAO. The data files will be processed and provided as soon as possible.

Download and complete the following FOI form and send it to the address below.
