It’s important for parents to understand their school’s EQAO results, in addition to their child’s individual results. The resource “6 Questions to Ask When Looking at Your School’s Results” can help parents understand and talk about the school’s results with the principal, teachers and each other.
Schools across Ontario use EQAO test results, alongside other information such as report card grades, attendance rates and demographics, to develop their improvement plans. EQAO data help schools to
- identify how well students are meeting the expectations in the curriculum;
- identify strengths and areas for improvement in reading, writing and mathematics programs;
- guide school improvement initiatives in these areas and
- pinpoint where new or different resources are needed.
