How to Request an Appeal of a Student’s Results on the 2015 OSSLT

Students who wish to appeal their results on the 2015 OSSLT must contact their school’s principal, who will submit the request on their behalf.

  • Application to submit an appeal available for principals: May 29, 2015
  • Deadline to submit an appeal: September 4, 2015
  • Principals notified of the results of appeals: September 18, 2015
  • Deadline to submit an appeal for students who require a decision earlier than September: June 12, 2015
  • Principals notified of the results of appeals for requests submitted by June 12: June 23, 2015

EQAO will notify principals of results directly.

New Booklet Layout for 2015 Assessments

The layout of student test booklets for 2015 has changed. Students will now record all of their responses—both multiple-choice and open-response—in a separate Answer Booklet. This change is necessary to support online scoring, which will start for all assessments in 2015 as part of the “EQAO Online” project to move the provincial assessment program online.

A complete sample test in the new booklet layout for 2014–2015 is available below.

Summary of Results and Strategies for Teachers, 2013–2014

These observations and suggested strategies for improvement will assist educators in helping students develop and demonstrate their literacy skills. They are based on an analysis of students’ performance on the 2013 OSSLT and on feedback from OSSLT scorers.

OSSLT Curriculum Connections, June 2011

The OSSLT assesses whether students have acquired the literacy (reading and writing) skills expected by The Ontario Curriculum across all subjects up to the end of Grade 9.
